I was born in Blackpool, Lancashire in 1964 and have travelled around the country with various jobs. After a number of years in fashion retail and in customer call centres, I had an enjoyable period in garden centres working with garden designs and container gardening.
I have always been very creative and, prior to working with ceramics, I held several exhibitions of my paintings in the South West of England. In 2001 I went back to college to study Art. During the first year we looked at various art forms: painting, ceramics, 3D design, cartoon illustration, video, etc. Immediately, I knew that ceramics was for me as the limitation of 2 dimensional painting was already frustrating me. I received my HND with distinction in Ceramics and 3D Design in July 2005.
I have now returned 'home' to the North West of England and set up my ceramics studio practice, Edge Ceramics, in Shap, Cumbria on the edge of the Lake District.
I am a member of the Northern Potters Association - the trade association for ceramic artists based in the North of England.
You are welcome to visit my studio, but please contact me first to check that I will be available.
